AddictionsThere is little more self-devastating to life than addiction. Whatever the behavior, alcohol, drugs, sex, food, or any other substance or activity that dominates our life, we seem powerless to stop.
Addiction coaching is different than counseling, therapy or your standard 12 step program. All coaching is based on the concept that the answer is within and it is the coaches job to help the client find that answer and determine how best to apply that. Addiction coaching is no different. Having said that, we ALWAYS advocate the work done through and by these resources and recommend their services be performed in tandem with coaching. |
As a behavioral issue, rather than an attitude based conflict, addiction coaching and addiction recovery is definitely not for the faint of heart and we do not take it lightly. If there is any indication whatsoever that a client's life may be in jeopardy, either through self harm or through the process of chemical withdrawal, those issues MUST be dealt with first, before any coaching can be undertaken. Chemically addicted clients will only be accepted after a 15 day "clean" period.
Coaches work with the clients to help them understand the triggers and the landmines and work with them on a daily basis, as necessary, to ensure long term recovery. As such, addiction recovery is a much more personal relationship and is a custom program to each individual.
